LP crisis: How Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, others spent campaign funds, Abure leaks top secret

The crisis rocking the Labour Party has taken a different turn with the factional national chairman of the party, Julius Abure, disclosing how the Obi-Datti 2023 presidential election campaign was funded.

Abure who spoke during an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party on Monday, September 9, said the funding of the 2023 presidential poll was funded by Peter Obi, LP’s number one candidate.

According to Abure, the Labour Party was never involved in the distribution of financial resources for the party’s activities.

He said, “The funding of the election itself was carried out by Peter Obi; the party was never involved in the distribution of those resources.

“Our interest was to see how we can produce a president from the party, however, it was done, we didn’t bother ourselves with it.

Noting that the party was not involved in the collection and donations of funds, Abure listed accounts where these monies were credited.

“The accounts are Obi/Baba-Ahmed Campaign Account: Zenith Bank – 1241950451 Sterling Bank – 0091657896 Heritage Bank – 1400234900 Globus Bank – 1000128194.

“The signatories to these accounts were Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo. Both were also accountable for the compensation of the Polling Unit Agents,” he added.
