BREAKING: Nottingham Forest Slammed With Points Deduction, Slips Into Relegation
Nottingham Forest has incurred a four-point deduction for violating Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.
This immediate loss of points has caused Forest to slip below Luton Town, relegating them to the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Following Everton’s ten-point deduction in November (later reduced to six on appeal), Forest becomes the second top-flight team to face penalties for PSR breaches.
Forest, expected to appeal the decision, underwent a hearing on March 7th and 8th. Premier League regulations permit clubs to incur losses of up to £105 million over three seasons, with a maximum loss of £61 million for clubs transitioning from the Championship.
As per league guidelines, any appeals process should ideally conclude by May 24th, shortly after the current season ends.
In January, Forest was charged, and both they and Everton acknowledged breaching the league’s profitability and sustainability rules.

Forest enlisted the services of sports lawyer Nick de Marco to mount their defense, citing the sale of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham Hotspur in September as a pivotal aspect of their case. Despite occurring after the accounting deadline, Forest contends that postponing Johnson’s sale allowed them to secure a higher fee than if the transfer had taken place before June 30th.
