JUST IN: What Happened To Our 4 Refineries? Joe Igbokwe Fires After Tinubu Minister’s Comment

Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to investigate the reasons behind the non-functioning state of Nigeria’s refineries.

Igbokwe expressed concern over the status of the country’s four refineries, which have been inactive for years.

His remarks came in response to a statement made by Finance Minister Wale Edun, who disclosed that Nigeria spends $600 million monthly on fuel imports. Edun explained that the high cost of supplying fuel to neighboring countries, including those in Central Africa, is a significant factor behind this expenditure. He also mentioned that the lack of accurate data on domestic fuel consumption contributed to President Tinubu’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy.

Reacting on Facebook, Igbokwe questioned, “Finance Minister says Nigeria spends $600m monthly on importation of PMS. Please, what happened to our 4 refineries?” He further emphasized the need to address this issue, stating, “If this is a jinx, we have to break it. PBAT should find out why our refineries are not working for years now. We need to know.”
