JUST IN: Police Deploy Bomb Disposal Squad To Scene Of Rivers Explosion

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed an explosion at the Action People’s Party (APP) secretariat in Port Harcourt early Monday morning.

The police have dispatched a bomb disposal unit to the scene to assess the damage, investigate the cause, and identify the type of explosive used.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command’s spokesperson, verified the incident in a phone conversation with our correspondent. She stated, “Yes, the command can confirm the incident. It happened early this morning. We have dispatched our bomb disposal unit to the party office to ascertain what really happened, and an investigation has commenced.”

The explosion, which occurred around 1 a.m. at the APP secretariat on Tombia Road in GRA, Port Harcourt, shattered doors, windows, and other property within the building.

This incident comes amid speculation that Governor Siminalayi Fubara may be planning to align with the APP following claims that his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, has taken control of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Sunny Wokekoro, the APP State Chairman, also confirmed the explosion and mentioned that he was assessing the damage before addressing the press. The police have assured the public that an investigation is underway to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
