JUST IN: Obaseki Appoints New SSG, Replaces Ogie

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has accepted the resignation of Osarodion Ogie, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Ogie stepped down on August 9, 2024, to focus on his political aspirations, specifically as the running mate to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming September 21 election.

Ogie’s resignation aligns with electoral law requirements, which mandate that political appointees resign 30 days before participating in an election. Governor Obaseki expressed gratitude for Ogie’s dedication and loyalty over the past seven years, acknowledging his contributions to the administration’s vision for a prosperous Edo State.

In Ogie’s place, Governor Obaseki has appointed Joseph Eboigbe as the new Secretary to the State Government. Eboigbe, a chartered accountant with an extensive 15-year career at Deloitte, has previously served as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Economic Planning and later as the Commissioner for Finance. His appointment takes immediate effect as he steps into this critical role to help the administration complete its final phase under the “Finishing Strong” agenda.
