JUST IN: Nollywood Actors Declare ‘No Shoot Day’ After Junior Pope’s Death

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has designated Thursday, April 11, as “No Shoot Day” for all Nollywood filmmakers, following the tragic death of actor Junior Pope and three other crew members in a boat accident on Anam River in Anambra on Wednesday.

Emeka Rollas, the National President of AGN, issued a statement on Thursday declaring the suspension of filming activities, particularly those involving riverine areas and boat riding, indefinitely. This decision was prompted by the incident that occurred on the set of the movie titled ‘The Other Side of Life,’ produced by Adamma Luke.

Rollas stated, “Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members at the waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on 10th of April, all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely.”

He further emphasized, “No Shoot on all locations nationwide on Thursday, 11th April 2024, and the film titled ‘The Other Side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely.”

Additionally, Rollas announced that no actor would be permitted to work with Adamma Luke as a producer until further notice, while efforts continue to search for the bodies of the remaining victims.

“May their souls rest in peace,” Rollas concluded.
