JUST IN: Bobrisky To Remain In Detention During Eid-Il-Fitri Despite His Emotional Apology
Controversial crossdresser, Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, faces the possibility of spending the Eid-il-Fitri break behind bars.
Bobrisky was apprehended on April 3 and found guilty by a Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, April 5, 2024, after admitting to charges of Naira abuse brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky, with the initial four counts relating to Naira abuse and the remaining two counts concerning alleged money laundering.
Before the charges were read, the EFCC prosecutor urged the court to dismiss counts five and six.
Bobrisky admitted guilt to the four-count charge of Naira abuse but pleaded for leniency, expressing unawareness of the laws governing Naira abuse and pledging to educate his social media followers about it.
“I am a social media influencer with over five million followers. I would do a video on my page, and I would educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat it, My Lord. I regret my actions, My Lord. I am a first-time offender,” he said.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro scheduled April 9, 2024, for his sentencing and ordered his detention in EFCC custody until then.
However, on Sunday, the Federal Government declared Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays for Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
This holiday coincides with Bobrisky’s scheduled sentencing date, possibly delaying the proceedings unless Justice Awogboro opts to conduct the sentencing on Monday.
It is anticipated that Bobrisky may remain in detention throughout the holiday period.
