Police Can’t Stop Our Protest Over Nnamdi Kanu – IPOB Members

The Police Command in Abia State reported intentions by some individuals and organisations to hold protests in the state on Monday, July 5th, 2021.

The Police Command issued a statement through its Public Relations Officer, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, advising intended demonstrators to immediately cease or postpone their actions.

“This has become necessary because hoodlums or miscreants may hijack the process to inflict mayhem on the lives and property of innocent citizens,” according to the Police Command.

“The security operatives in Abia State have been placed on red alert,” the statement said, adding that “the Command would not allow any conduct capable of truncating the state’s peace.”

However, according to a DAILY POST investigation conducted on Wednesday, the Abia police claim came after certain die-hard members and supporters of the jailed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, vowed to hold protests in the southeastern zone, particularly Abia.

Nnamdi Kanu, a native of Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku in Abia, was recently re-arrested in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria to face treasonous felony charges brought by the Nigerian government.

The IPOB leader was apprehended by a combined team of Nigerian and international security officials in a coordinated interception, according to Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, who verified the news.
