I Never Wanted To Be Governor – Top APC Gov Reveals Lower Post He Has Been Eyeing
A top Governor under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Babagana Zulum of Borno State has revealed that his initial career aspiration was to serve as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, rather than assuming the role of Governor in the state.
Zulum made this revelation during a farewell ceremony for the university’s departing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, held in Maiduguri over the weekend.
In his exact words, Zulum stated: “I never aspired to be the governor of Borno State; my ambition was to become the vice chancellor of the University of Maiduguri. I don’t know if the university would consider me for the role. It’s not about the money, but about contributing to the educational system.”
Addressing professors and academics present, Zulum sought their support in achieving his academic ambition, highlighting his past roles as a lecturer and student.
The Governor underscored the importance of addressing university funding challenges and advocated for innovative approaches to ensure sustainable revenue generation.
Zulum outlined four strategic areas for investment, emphasizing livestock production, poultry, and commercial agriculture, drawing from his experience as the former Rector of Ramat Polytechnic.
