How Tinubu Ordered Security Agents To Continue Shooting Protesters -Buhari’s Ex-Minister Reveals

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development Solomon Dalung, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s national broadcast calling for the suspension of the ongoing nationwide hunger protest.

Dalung led an anti-government protest in Jos, Plateau State, last Thursday and participated in an open-air Sunday church service held by the protesters at the Old Airport Roundabout in Jos. The service attracted a large crowd, including Christian and Muslim leaders, and protesters carrying Nigerian flags blocked the roundabout, forcing motorists to find alternative routes.

Attendees emphasized the importance of the church service, believing that divine intervention could improve Nigeria’s situation and help its struggling citizens.

Speaking with journalists, Dalung described Tinubu’s broadcast as empty, accusing the President of failing to appeal to the protesters and instead issuing threats and directing security agencies to continue their crackdown.

“The President did not say anything in his speech. He did not appeal to the protesters to stop the protest. He only threatened them and told the security agencies to continue with the clampdown, shooting, and killing. He did not even address Nigerians. He was just talking to himself and members of his cabinet. All these things he said only go to strengthen our resolve to continue with this protest,” Dalung stated.
