Governor Akeredolu Opens Up On Contesting For Nigeria’s President In 2023

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said on Wednesday that he will not contest in the 2023 presidential election.

The governor, in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, distanced himself from promotional operations associating him to the 2023 presidential elections, saying his principle has nothing to do with the phony campaigners.

The actions of the fake campaigners, he claims, were a waste of time.

In the last two weeks, the state’s social media space has been filled with Akeredolu campaign posters and pamphlets pushing him to run for president in 2023.

Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe State and Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, was included as his potential running partner on the poster and flier that have been circulating on social media.

In a statement, Akeredolu’s spokesperson stated that his principal’s competency is undeniable, but that the governor’s recent campaign by an unknown person does not reflect his immediate political disposition.

Olatunde stated that Akeredolu, who was recently re-elected, is only focused on improving Ondo State’s government.
