BREAKING: Heavily Armed Policemen Storm PDP Secretariat In Cross River

Armed police officers supervised the removal of flags and other symbols from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Calabar, Cross River State, on Saturday.

Ntufam Inok Edim, the party’s caretaker committee chairman, is on the scene, according to Cross River Watch.

He is said to have remarked that the secretariat building should be used for anything else.

The flags of the party had been removed from the structure, which was being repainted in green and white. According to the allegation, some 50 police officers in plainclothes are blocking entrance to the highways surrounding the secretariat, which is located along the Murtala Muhammed highway.

DSP Irene Ugbo, the police spokesperson in Cross River, said an official statement on the incident will be released later.

In the presence of the six APC governors who paid him a visit at Government House, Governor Ben Ayade declared his defection from the PDP to the ruling APC.

Governor Ayade cited President Muhammadu Buhari’s character traits as reasons for joining the APC, as well as the realization that Cross River, which has been economically crippled since losing its oil wells, needed to align with the ruling party at the national level.

“Having seen and known the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and his commitment to this country, his nationalistic disposition and all the efforts he has made to bring Nigeria to where we are today, it is obvious that at this point we needed to join hands with him to build a Nigeria that we can be proud of,” Ayade said.

“We need all governors to recognize that it is not the party that matters. It is the character, it is an honour, it is the commitment to the vision of this great nation.

“We all need to as a teamwork ahead of the president by working towards building a prosperous country that the succession worries of 2023 will come without the fears and the worries the international community has for us”, he declared adding, “I believe that if every one of us as governor joins hands with Mr President, I think we can sit on the same dining table and fashion out a way to govern this country.”
