Gov Fubara Breaks Silence On LGA Crisis In Rivers
Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has spoken out on the crisis rocking the state over the local government administration.
Speaking on the issue, Fubara clarified that the 1999 Nigerian Constitution does not permit tenure extension for elected local government chairmen.
The declaration follows Fubara’s instruction for heads of administration in the 23 local government areas to assume leadership from the elected council chairmen, whose three-year tenure concluded on Monday. Fubara made this directive during a state broadcast on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Fubara maintained that the decision is in accordance with constitutional provisions aimed at maintaining peace and order in the state.
“We will fearlessly lead the way to ensure that peace continues to prevail in the state while protecting all patriotic supporters for their stand on the path of truth.
“The law on local government tenure is unambiguous. The court clearly affirmed the position of the law.
Exposed!! Popular Abuja doctor revealed how men can naturally and permanently cure poor erection, quick ejaculation, small and shameful manhood without side effects. Even if you are hypertensive or diabetic . Stop the use of hard drugs for sex!! It kills!
“The law is the law; there is no extension of the local government’s tenure in it. The court says so.”
The Governor promised to protect his supporters and resist any “grand plan to arrest” them.
The Governor earlier on Wednesday morning (today) went ahead to swear in Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 23 Local Government Areas in the state.
