Fear Heightens As Trump Goes For Outdoor Rally For The First Time After Attempt To Assassinate Him

Donald Trump is set to hold his first outdoor rally since narrowly escaping an assassination attempt at an open-air event last month.

The rally will take place Wednesday afternoon at the North Carolina Aviation Museum in Asheboro.

In response to the previous attack, security measures for the event have been heightened. The Republican nominee’s podium will be surrounded by bulletproof glass, according to US media reports citing security and campaign sources.

Following the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman fired from a rooftop, injuring Trump and killing one attendee, the Secret Service had advised against outdoor events. Despite this, Trump has expressed a desire to return to open-air rallies. On July 31, he told supporters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, “We’re not giving up the outdoor rallies.”

Trump, who has since held around a dozen indoor rallies, reaffirmed his commitment to outdoor events on social media, noting that the Secret Service has agreed to enhance security measures significantly.

The Secret Service typically does not disclose details about security protocols and did not confirm the use of bulletproof glass or other security enhancements for this rally. However, sources indicated that Trump will speak from behind a transparent protective barrier, similar to the glass used in presidential limousines.

The Asheboro rally coincides with Day 3 of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Kamala Harris is being officially nominated for the 2024 presidential race. Last month’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee also had tight security following the assassination attempt.

Trump will be joined at the rally by his running mate, Senate J.D. Vance. The North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame has prepared for a large turnout, with bleachers set up for thousands of attendees. The museum’s Facebook page has confirmed that the event will be held outdoors.

North Carolina is a key swing state likely to influence the outcome of the November 5 election.
