Jarret Tenebe, the state APC chairman, and Deputy Governor Phillip Shaibu are reportedly seeking to retrieve funds believed to be accumulated through illicit means.

Both Tenebe and Shaibu have faced accusations of corruption in the past. Shaibu for alleged embezzlement during his tenure as Deputy Governor and Tenebe for oil theft.

Sources claim that a former governorship candidate of the party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has been funding the party.

”Their trip to the U.S. is to bring back their hidden wealth there, which they intend to use to challenge Ize-Iyamu’s leadership and shift the balance of power in their favour,” the source said.

The source further said Ize-Iyamu has been shielding Okpebholo from the influence of Tenebe and Shaibu, as he sees the duo as a threat to his control over the party and campaign strategy.

”Typical of Shaibu, he just re-entered the APC, but he is already fighting the stakeholders of the party. He has partnered with Tenebe to wrestle control of the party structures from Ize-Iyamu. The days ahead will be interesting,” the source stated.
