Edo election: Group slams APC over comments on sensitive election materials, challenges party on BVAS inspection

The Edo People for Good Governance (EPGG) has responded to recent allegations made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairman, Jaret Tenebe, describing his claims against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, as a “cocktail of complete falsehood.”

The APC’s accusations, which alleged irregularities in the handling of election materials, have been dismissed by the EPGG as an attempt to distract the public and derail the PDP’s focus on reviewing the BVAS (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System) and other sensitive election materials.

In a strongly-worded statement signed by its coordinator, Bright Omorodion, the EPGG posed several critical questions to the APC, challenging their narrative and raising doubts about their credibility:

“Does the state government produce BVAS? Can you upload a wrong result into IREV without the approved BVAS by INEC? Can they also falsify Form EC8A?”

The group further asked: “Who is supposed to be in custody of the voters’ register? Why is the APC afraid to allow PDP to inspect the BVAS and other sensitive materials? Can one access the IREV without INEC’s permission and connivance?”

The group emphasized that Edo citizens should not be swayed by what it described as “low-level propaganda tactics” used by the APC.

“Every lie has an expiration date, and the APC’s lies are no different,” the statement read.

The group further stated that: “As we approach the Tribunal after the election materials review, their lies and misinformation will crumble. The people know the truth—our mumu don do!”

Omorodion further reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to recovering what they believe is their stolen mandate, stating, “The APC can spread lies, but they cannot stop the election materials review to cover up their rigging.”

The EPGG concluded by urging the people of Edo to remain calm and resolute, trusting that justice will be served.
