Edo Democracy Movement Issues Strong Warning to APC Over Intimidation of PDP Supporters

The Edo Democracy Movement has vehemently condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its recent intimidation tactics against supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to media reports alleging that APC agents have been threatening the lives of PDP witnesses ahead of the Edo governorship election petition tribunal, the movement stated that such actions are a direct threat to the democratic process.

A statement signed by the coordinator of the movement read: “We condemn the actions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) agents who have resorted to fear tactics to silence opposition voices.

“The reports of threats against PDP witnesses, warning them against testifying at the tribunal, are not only an affront to democracy but also a grave violation of the rights of citizens to free expression and participation in the electoral process.

“It is crucial to remind the APC that democracy thrives on the principles of fairness, accountability, and respect for the rule of law.”

The movement called on the APC to cease intimidation tactics, urging them to allow all parties to present their cases without fear.

“Intimidating witnesses and supporters does not only undermine the integrity of the electoral process but also erodes public trust in our institutions,” the statement warned.

Furthermore, the group urged law enforcement agencies to protect the lives and rights of all individuals involved in the tribunal process.

“We urge the APC to respect the democratic process and allow all parties to present their cases without fear of reprisal.

“The future of Edo State depends on our collective commitment to uphold democratic values and principles,” they concluded.
