Drama As Emir Sanusi, Dethroned Emir Bayero Meet Kano District Heads In Separate Palaces (VIDEO)

The ongoing crisis in the Kano Emirate took another twist on Monday as both the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, and the reinstated Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, hosted district heads separately in their respective palaces.

Last Friday, Governor Abba Yusuf enacted a law abolishing the additional emirates established by the previous administration of Abdullahi Ganduje and reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir.

However, the situation took a legal turn as a High Court in Kano State ordered Bayero to cease identifying himself as the Emir of Kano and instructed the police to remove him from the mini-palace on the state road. This directive was issued on Monday by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu.

This legal dispute arose following a Federal High Court ruling on Thursday, which restrained the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and suspended the legislation establishing the dissolved five emirates in the state.

The court’s ruling also impacted other traditional rulers in the dissolved emirates, prohibiting Nasiru Ado Bayero, Ibrahim Abubakar II, Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, and Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya from assuming the roles of emirs of Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye, respectively.

Emphasizing the significance of upholding the rule of law, Justice Aliyu asserted that the court would ensure that its directives are respected and enforced until the substantive motion is heard.
