JUST-IN: Rivers Assembly Reconvenes, Pass Vote Of Confidence On Gov Fubara

The lawmakers appealed to the governor to commence the rehabilitation works immediately.

The lawmakers condemned the attack on the Speaker’s residence and the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly’s hallowed chamber.

The House emphasized the need for the Inspector General of Police and security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incidents.

Under the direction of Speaker Rt Hon. Barr. Edison Ehie, the Rivers State House of Assembly reconvened today as security guards were stationed inside the legislative complex.

During their first meeting following the crisis that rocked the House, the legislators gave Rivers State’s Executive Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, a vote of confidence.

The House praised the governor for his efforts to keep Rivers peaceful and for his security measures, emphasising that it needs a man of great vision and peace to steer the ship of development for the benefit of the state’s citizens.

The House decided to keep providing the governor with the necessary backing so he could carry out his programme of continuity and consolidation for the good of the state.

The lawmakers also denounced the arson of the Rivers State House of Assembly’s sacred chamber and the assault on the Speaker’s home.

The governor was urged by the parliamentarians to start the rehabilitation process right now.

The House also underlined how urgent it is that the Inspector General of Police and other pertinent security authorities look into the incidences and thoroughly prosecute those responsible.
