BREAKING: Tension In UI As Students Protest Hike In School Fees (PHOTOS)

Students at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, have launched a protest over a significant increase in school fees.

The demonstration began early on Friday in response to a recent decision by the institution’s governing council to raise fees.

The council approved the fee hike during a meeting on Thursday, prompting students to take action. According to students who spoke on the issue, the fee increases exceed 100%.

Students have boycotted classes and are actively preventing others from attending until the fees are reduced.

A student from the Department of Human Nutrition, who spoke anonymously to avoid intimidation, revealed that fees increased from N58,000 in the 2022/2023 session to N138,350 for the current session.
