BREAKING: Senator Breaks Silence After He Was Stripped Of His Title

Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has criticized the emirate council’s decision to withdraw his Mujaddadin Bauchi title.

On Thursday, the council stripped Buba of the chieftaincy, citing alleged insults directed at the state Governor, Bala Mohammed. Buba had criticized Mohammed’s policies during the launch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) local government election campaign in the state, claiming that the Governor has exacerbated poverty in Bauchi and called for greater accountability of state resources.

In a letter addressed to the Emir of Bauchi, Buba expressed surprise and disappointment at the council’s decision, which he felt was made hastily and without a fair hearing. “I regret that the Bauchi Emirate Council reached this conclusion without providing me a proper opportunity to defend myself,” Buba, who chairs the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, stated.

Buba accepted the decision with good faith but voiced hope for Bauchi’s recovery from its current challenges. He defended his actions by refuting Governor Mohammed’s allegations of abuse by the Tinubu administration and accused the Governor of mismanaging state funds. Buba questioned the use of substantial financial allocations from the Federation Account in light of the state’s economic difficulties.

He also advised the Emirate Council to avoid political entanglements and remain focused on its traditional responsibilities. Buba concluded with a prayer for the Emir of Bauchi’s long and healthy reign, emphasizing the need for effective leadership of the Emirate.
