JUST IN: DSS Operatives Track Down Wanted Motor Park Boss, Auxiliary
The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly apprehended Mukaila Lamidi, known as Auxiliary, the former chairman of the Oyo State Park Management System who had been sought by authorities.
Auxiliary was taken into custody around 4:00 pm on Tuesday at his residence in the Olodo area of Ibadan, according to reliable sources.
The motives behind his arrest remain unclear. However, a confidential source disclosed that it stemmed from an interview he gave on Saturday, May 4, in which he accused Seye Famojuro, a close associate of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, of being responsible for his troubles.
In the interview with media personnel Ajibola Akinyefa in Yoruba, Auxiliary stated, “If he (Famojuro) is the governor or Seyi Makinde is, we will know. It is just a matter of time. Everybody will face the consequences of their actions. The people he chose to manage the park are cheating themselves.”
When questioned about allegations of his involvement in violence leading to his removal, Auxiliary challenged the number of people who reported him to the police for assault. He also remarked that Famojuro would eventually return to Ijesha as Ibadan was not his native land.
Auxiliary’s recent arrest echoes his past troubles. In May 2023, he was apprehended following accusations of inciting unrest after Makinde dissolved the PMS committee.
An informed source speaking with PUNCH Metro confirmed that the police intervened swiftly to forestall disorder in the state. While Lamidi managed to escape during the raid, he was subsequently declared wanted.
The source, preferring anonymity due to concerns of reprisal, stated, “From what we gathered, the police acted on the information that some members of Auxiliary’s camp wanted to cause trouble based on the government disbanding their operations in the state.”
Despite efforts, attempts to reach DSS spokesperson Peter Afunnaya were unsuccessful as calls went unanswered and text messages ignored.
