BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu signs VAT Bill into law

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed into law the State VAT Bill as passed by the House of Assembly.

The Governor signed the “bill for a law to impose and charge VAT on certain goods and services” at about 11. 45am today, after returning from an official trip to Abuja.

By this act, the Bill has now become a Law, Gbenga Omotoso, the commissioner for information said in a press release made available to News Direct.

Recall that Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, signed into law a bill which authorizes the Rivers State Government to henceforth collect Value Added Tax (VAT) in the state last week Thursday.

Earlier this week, the Lagos State House of Assembly had passed the State’s Value Added Tax (VAT) bill with Speaker Mudashiru Obasa directing the Acting Clerk of the House, Olalekan Onafeko, to transmit a clean copy to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for assent.
