BREAKING: Niger Governor Approves New Wage Award For Workers
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has announced the approval of a wage award for workers in the state.
In the latest announcement by the Governor, he announced the approval of N20,000 for every civil servant in the state.
This decision came in response to an appeal made by President Bola Tinubu for state governments to implement the wage award to alleviate the economic challenges faced by the people.
President Tinubu, during his visit to Minna on Monday, March 11, urged state governors to commence payment of the wage award to provide much-needed relief to the populace.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of adopting the wage award by all states, stating, “If all of you, the sub-nationals have been paying the wages award, pending the determination of the new salary wage… Let all the states start paying the wages award.”
He further urged the states to consider the relief it would bring to the public, highlighting the potential dampening effect on the market.

The Niger state governor’s decision to implement the N20,000 wage award was announced during the state Executive Council meeting held in Minna on Wednesday.
Governor Bago assured that the payment would commence promptly, stating, “The payment would be made unfailing on Wednesday and workers would begin to receive alerts to this effect.”
Additionally, Governor Bago announced plans for feeding programs at various wards during Ramadan and the distribution of 120 trucks of grains as palliatives to alleviate the plight of the people.
