BREAKING: New Twist As Appeal Court Reserves Removal of Pro-Wike Lawmakers in Rivers Assembly

According to a report from The Nation, The Appeal Court, Port Harcourt Division, has reserved its verdict regarding the removal of former Speaker Martin Amaewhule and 26 other members from the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The three-man panel, led by Justice Jimi Olukayode-Bada, announced that a date for the final judgment will be communicated to the involved parties, including the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led lawmakers.

The appeal, which was heard via Zoom on Thursday, revolves around the defection of Amaewhule and 26 others from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The case was initiated by the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led faction within the Rivers State Assembly.

Justice Olukayode-Bada, speaking on behalf of the panel, emphasized that the court has taken into consideration all arguments presented by both sides. However, the final judgment will be issued at a later date, to be announced in due course.

The case has drawn significant attention due to its potential implications for the political landscape in Rivers State.

The defection of Amaewhule and his colleagues has been a contentious issue, with allegations of political maneuvering and party loyalty breaches at its core.

Observers and political analysts await the court’s final decision, which could set a precedent for similar cases across the country.

The outcome will not only affect the political careers of those involved but also potentially reshape the composition and dynamics within the Rivers State House of Assembly.
