BREAKING: New CJN Reveals What She Will Do After Her Swearing In (VIDEO)

The newly sworn-in Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Motonmori Kekere-Ekun, has committed to addressing the challenges facing the judiciary directly.

Justice Kekere-Ekun, after her inauguration, emphasized her dedication to working with fellow justices to implement meaningful reforms. She acknowledged the ongoing concerns regarding judicial appointments, promising swift action to address these issues.

Her remarks come amid controversy over her own appointment, with the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) questioning her suitability due to her involvement in the disputed 2019 Imo State gubernatorial election judgment.

HURIWA also raised doubts about Justice Kekere-Ekun’s integrity, pointing to unresolved allegations of asset declaration violations, and criticized the Code of Conduct Bureau for not investigating these claims. Additionally, the association suggested that her elevation to Chief Justice may have been influenced by political support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
