BREAKING: Masari Lifts Ban On Network Shutdown In 10 Of 17 LGA’s In Katsina

Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has written to the Nigerian Telecommunications Commission (NCC) seeking that telephone services be restored in ten of the 17 Local Government Areas affected by the ban, which was imposed four months ago.

Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, the State Governor’s Director General of Media, revealed this in a press statement given to DAILY POST in the early hours of Friday.

Kurfi, Dutsinma, Matazu, Musawa, Malumfashi, Dandume, Bakori, Funtua, Kafur, and Danja are among the ten local government areas where the prohibition has been revoked, according to Labaran.

Telecom services, however, are still prohibited in the following seven local governments: Faskari, Sabuwa, Batsari, Safana, Kankara, Danmusa, and Jibia, according to him.

The state government, according to Labaran, “decided to suspend the ban in the ten local governments as a result of the return to near normalcy, even as efforts to achieve maximum return of calm in all region of the state remained on the front burner.”

In a statement made available by the command’s spokesman, Superintendent Gambo Isah, the state’s Commissioner of Police and Chairman of the Implementation and Enforcement Committee on Security Challenges, CP. Sanusi Buba, said the government has softened its stance on the ban on the sale of small ruminants like goats and sheep in markets across the state.

In fact, Governor Masari signed a ‘Security Challenge Containment Order’ to counter the threat on August 31, 2021, in response to the state’s mounting security concerns.
