Group Commends Sanwo-Olu Over Two New Varsities

The Lagos State Chapter of the Advocates for Good Governance has praised the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for signing laws to establish two more universities in the state, the Lagos State University of Education and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology.

Mr. Biyi Adebisi, the group’s coordinator, issued the commendation in a statement on Thursday.

Sanwo-Olu signed the bills transferring the Lagos State Polytechnics in Ikorodu, Isolo, and Surulere to the University of Science and Technology, as well as the Adeniran Ogunsanya Colleges of Education in Ijanikin and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education in Epe, to the Lagos State University of Education on Wednesday.

The establishment of the two new universities, according to the organization, will resolve concerns relating to the admission of Lagos State residents.

The group, while commending Sanwo-Olu “for putting his full weight behind the establishment of the two additional universities,” also appreciated the Lagos State House of Assembly led by Mudashiru Obasa for believing in the process.
