BREAKING: Fresh Update Emerges, Three People Affected In Abuja Building Collapse

Three individuals were affected when a building collapsed in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday evening.

The three victims sustained injuries. but fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident.

The collapse occurred at a four-bedroom apartment opposite Stanbic IBTC Bank in Area 11. The building, an old structure undergoing renovation, collapsed around 8:40 pm, trapping several workers who were inside at the time.

Director of the FCT Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, confirmed that no fatalities were recorded. Three injured persons were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Adebayo stated that excavation efforts were temporarily halted at 1:30 am and scheduled to resume at 7 am on July 2, 2024.

FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, also confirmed the incident, noting that Commissioner of Police CP Benneth C. Igweh swiftly mobilized multiple patrol teams to the scene for rescue operations. Adeh confirmed the successful evacuation of the three injured victims to receive medical attention.

Authorities have involved the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria and FCT Development Control to manage the situation effectively at the site of the collapse.
