Ikoyi Building Collapse: Video Shows Trapped Workers, Reveals Contractor’s Name

The contractor’s name was discovered in footage of the Ikoyi building collapse seen by DAILY POST on Saturday.

Four people are seen trapped and dead in the video. One male was clothed in a white shirt and black slacks, while the other was dressed in a blue overall.

As responders and citizens work together to remove rubbles, the recorder proceeds to another location where two people were stuck.

In the background, one of the emergency officials can be heard attempting to halt the recording. “I’m going to disperse that camera.”

The owner of the phone tells him to concentrate on his work. “Calm down, focus your energies on what you need to do, and quit arguing with people.” “No one is content.”

The citizen then focuses on two deceased workers who are wearing an orange apron with the words Skylum Nigeria Limited on the back.

As they stood on what was remained of Gerrard Terraces, various voices repeated, “More than 50 people are trapped, over 50.”

360 degrees was another name for the units. The name refers to the location, which provides residents with a 360-degree panorama of opulent Ikoyi.

The project is expected to be completed in 2022. Each unit was priced between $1.2 million and $5 million and sold for 65 percent of its asking price.

Olufemi Adegoke Osibona, the developer and Managing Director of Fourscore Heights Limited (FHL), is one of the victims.

Beyond Designs is the structural engineer, and Voltron Design Studio is the architect. The construction is overseen by M&E Consultants.

Prowess Engineering Limited, the former consultants, withdrew their services on February 20, 2020, stating that they no longer share Osibona’s mission.

Osibona and state officials are accused of conspiring to increase the number of floors from 21 to 15.

Gbolahan Oki, the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), has been suspended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has threatened to pursue all those implicated.

Oki had strangely announced that the “owner” had been apprehended, which he is required to clarify to investigators.

“The materials he used for the reinforcement are so terrible. He got approval for 15 floors but built 21. He has been arrested”, he told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated an investigation tribunal. He signed an instrument empowering the panel to invite anyone or company. The panel has four weeks to submit its report.

The Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) are yet to react. Today is Day 6.
