BREAKING: Court Strikes Out Case Against #EndBadGovernance Protesters, AGF, Others

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a lawsuit filed against the #Endbadgovernance protesters, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Chiefs of Army and Defence Staff.

The lawsuit, brought by 17 Nigerians in response to the recent nationwide protests, was struck out by Justice Peter Lifu due to a lack of diligent prosecution. The judge terminated the case on Thursday after noting the absence of both the 17 plaintiffs and the 26 defendants, as well as the absence of legal representation from either side.

Although the case was scheduled for a hearing, Justice Lifu expressed surprise that none of the plaintiffs appeared in court, nor were they represented by any legal counsel.

The plaintiffs, representing all six geopolitical zones of the country, had initially sought a court order to halt the protests, claiming that their fundamental rights to freedom of movement, human dignity, property ownership, economic, social, and cultural development, and national peace and security were being violated.

They also requested that the court compel the DSS, IGP, army chiefs, and the AGF to protect their fundamental rights by taking action against the protesters.
