Gunmen Kill Four In Imo Fresh Attack

Following an incident that claimed four lives on Tuesday night, there is tangible tension in Anara market in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

Suspected gunmen in a white sienna vehicle opened fire at the market, killing four people, according to reports.

During a visit, a Daily POST writer found that the event occurred at 8:30 p.m., just as the traders were about to close for the day.

A group of enraged-looking policemen were also seen at the crime scene.

On Wednesday afternoon, a source close to the market leadership confirmed the incident to our correspondent, stating that the assailants opened fire on a woman selling prepared food, killing three people on the spot and one person who was evacuated to a hospital subsequently died.

According to him, the gunmen entered the market in a car and fired indiscriminately at the traders.

“They (attackers) who got into their vehicle and didn’t get out shot intermittently at the traders without provocation and then drove away,” he claimed.

The corpses of three of the people who died instantly were also evacuated on Wednesday morning, according to the DAILY POST.

When contacted, state police spokesperson Micheal Abattam claimed that Rabiu Hussaini, the state commissioner of police, has ordered a probe into the killings.

According to the DAILY POST, the attack took place five days after gunmen raided Obowo LGA in the state and killed three people.
