BREAKING: Bandits Open Fire On Soldiers After Ambushing Them, Gun Down Some Of Them

Gunmen suspected to be armed bandits ambushed Nigerian Army troops in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of four soldiers.

The sole administrator of Gudu council, Umar Balle, disclosed this during a phone conversation on Sunday.

Balle, who narrowly escaped the ambush himself, reported that in addition to the four soldiers who were killed, seven others sustained gunshot wounds, and their vehicle was set on fire. The injured soldiers were initially treated at Gudu General Hospital before being transferred to Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital in Sokoto.

The attack was also confirmed by Yahya Gudu, the member representing Gudu in the state House of Assembly, who stated that two patrol vehicles were burned during the incident. In response to the ambush, more security personnel have been deployed to the area.

Attempts to obtain a statement from the Sokoto State government were unsuccessful, as the special adviser on security matters to the Governor, Col. Ahmed Usman (rtd), was unreachable at the time of reporting.
