BOB EXPRESS: EFCC Reveals More Offenses Allegedly Committed By Bobrisky

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed more offences allegedly committed by the controversial cross-dresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky

The commission also arraigned him before the Federal High Court in Lagos on charges of alleged money laundering.

On Thursday, the EFCC filed six counts against Bobrisky, focusing on money laundering and abuse of the naira.

Bobrisky will appear before the vacation judge, Justice Abimbola Awogboro, for arraignment.

According to the charge sheet filed by EFCC prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) and seven other lawyers, Bobrisky is accused of tampering with the sum of N400,000 by spraying it while dancing at a social event at the IMAX Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos, on March 24, 2024.

Additionally, Bobrisky allegedly tampered with another sum of N50,000 by spraying it at a social event at Aja Junction, Ikorodu, between July and August 2023, and another sum of N20,000 at White Steve Event Hall, Ikeja, in December 2023, and at Oniru, Victoria Island, during another event.

The EFCC also accuses Bobrisky, trading under the name “Bob Express,” of failing to submit a declaration of the company’s activities to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering. During the period between September 1, 2021, and April 4, 2024, a total sum of N127.7 million was paid into the company’s Ecobank account, and an additional N53 million during the same period.

The charges against Bobrisky contravene Sections 6 (1)(a) and 19(1) (f) of the Money Laundering (Prevention And Prohibition) Act and are punishable under Section 19 (2) (b) of the same Act.

Bobrisky has been in EFCC detention since Wednesday night but failed to meet the conditions for the administrative bail offered to him on Thursday.

Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed Bobrisky’s bail and failure to meet the conditions in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Thursday evening.
