Bandits kill five, kidnap 22 in Kaduna communities
Bandits have reportedly killed five and kidnapped four others in Dogon Dawa, Layin Mahuta and Tabanni, in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The kidnappers, within the week, also abducted 17 others.
This was contained in a statement on Saturday by Chairman, Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, Ibrahim Abubakar Nagari.
He said, “on March 15, 2022, Haruna Tanko Dogon Dawa and two others were cruelly murdered in the Eastern part of Birnin-Gwari by armed bandits along with Dogon Dawa- Zaria. Eight other people were abducted on the same route.
“At Layin Mahuta (Tabanni) one Abdullahi Abubakar, a school teacher was killed by bandits along Layin Lasan-Tabanni road on March 16, 2022. While on March 17, 2022, a seventy-year-old man was killed and seven women abducted at Layin Mahuta Tabanni. Two other people were abducted by the bandits at old Tabanni,” he said.

The statement while appreciating the efforts of security agencies and the Kaduna State Government, urged security personnel to always respond to distressed calls around Dogon Dawa, Kuyello, Tabanni and Kutemeshi wards in Birnin-Gwari.
However, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Jalige did not respond to calls put across to him to confirm the attacks.
Teenager nabbed for allegedly killing brother in Bauchi
The Police Command in Bauchi has arrested an 18-year-old boy, Abdulrahman Sulaiman, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother to death.
Sulaiman allegedly stabbed his brother in a fight, resulting from a heated argument at the games village area of Bauchi metropolis.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Umar Sanda who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Saturday in Bauchi, said the argument was over a pair of short pants that allegedly belonged to the suspect’s elder brother.
The commissioner said the suspect was currently in their custody.
He said the suspect allegedly killed his own blood brother (fratricide) when the elder brother asked him to remove the pants the suspect wore, which the elder brother claimed belonged to him.
Sanda said the suspect would be charged to court after investigation, adding that, the police would not relent in arresting perpetrators of such devilish acts.
The CP also urged the general public to desist from taking laws into their hands.
Mr Abdullahi Aminu, an eyewitness, said it was a quarrel the elder brother was stabbed during the fight, ensuing from an argument over a pair of short pants.
“The deceased who was 20 years old, allegedly asked his younger brother, Abdulrahman, to remove the shorts he was wearing, which he claimed belonged to the elder brother.
“The younger brother refused to remove it, then an argument erupted, leading to a fight.
”The younger brother used a broken glass to stab his elder brother in the stomach, which led to his death,” he said.
Also giving another account of the incident, Malam Garba Kariya, an uncle to the deceased said: “It is an unfortunate incident between the siblings.” (NAN)
