Amid Reports Of Surrender In Nigeria, Boko Haram Kills 24 Soldiers In Chad
Several Chadian media outlets reported Thursday, citing local sources, that Boko Haram militants operating in the Lake Chad region killed no fewer than 24 Chadian army personnel on the night of August 4 to 5.
General Azem Bermandoa Agouna, the army spokesman, acknowledged the attack on a Chadian army position in Tchoukoutalia, Lac province, when reached by Xinhua.
According to an army spokeswoman, the counter-offensive is beginning.
Boko Haram attacks the Lac province on a regular basis.
The most recent attack occurred on April 27.

Boko Haram extremists were blamed for the attack.
“Six people died, including a soldier,” in the attack in Kaiga-Kindjiria district, said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The four Lake Chad countries, together with Benin, formed an unified army in 2015 to combat Boko Haram with the support of local armed citizen groups.
