IPOB: Despite Suspension Of Monday’s Sit-At-Home Order, South-East Residents Fail To Resume Businesses
Despite the Indigenous People of Biafra’s suspension of the directive, people of the South-East region continued to observe the sit-at-home order on Monday, avoiding businesses and commercial activity (IPOB).
The Ghost Monday would no longer be held every Monday, according to IPOB’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who stated that it should only be observed on the day he appears in court.
Emma Powerful, the group’s spokesman, stated in a statement posted on Sunday.
He went on to say that security forces were planning to assault citizens and put it on operatives from IPOB’s paramilitary wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Despite the group’s announcement that the weekly lockdown on Mondays has been lifted, residents in the area have continued to stay indoors on Mondays since the command was initially issued.
According to pictures obtained by NEWS DIRECT, Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, is under absolute lockdown, with motorbike spare parts businesses closed. Markets and streets in Enugu Road, Nsukka, Enugu State, were also empty due to the lack of motor traffic.
The publication also learned that only a few automobiles were on the road in Awka, the state capital of Anambra, and that public spaces had been abandoned.
Despite the fact that Eke Awka’s market entrance was wide open, only a few people were observed in the market, and most of the stores were shuttered.
