Moment 3 Warring Ex-Govs Of Ebonyi Met During A Major Event

After years of discord, Ebonyi State leaders, including Governor Francis Nwifuru, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, and former governors Sam Egwu, David Umahi, and Martin Elechi, appear to have reconciled their differences.

The leaders, who have been absent from public events together, gathered on Tuesday to celebrate the 83rd birthday of former Governor Elechi in Abakaliki, organized by the Ebonyi State Government.

Former SGF Anyim, who chaired the event, hailed Elechi as a resilient founding father who fought for the state’s unity, stating, “Chief Elechi was the Governor of Ebonyi State but I tell you, that was just a calling to fill a vacuum which he accepted in his usual willingness to make the utmost sacrifice for Ebonyi people.”

Former Governor Egwu praised Elechi’s leadership, remarking, “Your dedication and tireless effort in spearheading the struggle for the creation of the state has left an indelible mark on the history of our beloved state.”

Umahi, Elechi’s successor, acknowledged him as an experienced administrator who imparted governance wisdom, while Governor Nwifuru commended Elechi’s leadership style and contributions to the state’s development.

Nwifuru described Elechi as “one of our respected elder statesmen in Ebonyi State who continues to offer rare insights and counsel on how best to organize our state,” acknowledging his influence on the political landscape.

In his response, Elechi thanked Governor Nwifuru for the event, hailing it as the best gift, and pledged continued support to his administration, affirming, “As an astute politician, he has been part of every political epoch in our state.”
