JUST IN: Nigeria, Poland, Sign MOU On Agriculture
A Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture was signed by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), and his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda, to improve bilateral cooperation in the field.
Immediately following a private meeting with Buhari, Duda briefed the media on the porch of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He claims that the MoU is required due to Russia’s aggressiveness in Ukraine and the ensuing food crisis.
Duda called Russia’s aggression “unjustified,” adding that his nation is helping the afflicted states and its allies to increase agricultural productivity.
In the energy dimension, he noted that Nigeria, being rich in gas, will ensure a steady increase of supply to Poland and the rest of the European Union.
“I hope we’re going to see some fruit in this memorandum we have signed,” he said.
On his part, Buhari thanked the Polish Government for opening its arms to Nigerian students whose studies were truncated by the Russia-Ukraine crisis; offering them opportunities for continued education.
He noted that both countries have reached agreements to increase collaboration in agriculture, energy and defense.
After the briefing Buhari and his host proceeded to the State House Banquet Hall for lunch.
