16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign running from November 25th (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10th (Human Rights Day). This annual event calls attention to the widespread issue of gender-based violence.
FAME Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Abuja, reaffirms its commitment to raising awareness, promoting education, and enhancing community engagement to combat gender-based violence (GBV).
This year’s theme, ’Towards Beijing +30: UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls’ underscores the pressing need for collective action and investment to eradicate gender-based violence against women and girls.
Speaking to the press, Arabinrin Aderonke, Executive Director of FAME Foundation, highlighted the importance of this year’s theme,
“Gender-based violence is a major problem that impacts people, families, and entire communities. This year’s theme highlights the importance of coming together to end GBV through collective effort and lasting change. Our goal is to create spaces where survivors can share their experiences, educate others, and inspire action towards a world where women are free from violence.”
Arabinrin Aderonke shared FAME Foundation’s upcoming activities to mark the campaign,

“This year, we are organizing a series of campaigns and outreach programs to engage communities and raise awareness. Additionally, we are launching an online campaign with the hashtag #HereForHer, which will be featured on our social media platforms. This campaign is a reminder that we must all stand together against gender-based violence and advocate for a future where no woman or girl lives in fear of violence or discrimination.”
Addressing the alarming rise in femicide cases, Arabinrin Aderonke announced that FAME Foundation has launched a Femicide Tracker, available on their website,
“This year, we have seen a troubling surge in femicide cases, and we must act. To aid in the reporting and documentation of such cases, FAME Foundation has launched a Femicide Tracker. This tool will allow victims and their families to report incidents, ensuring that no case goes unnoticed and that we can work toward justice. We encourage everyone to visit our website, share information, and stand up against all forms of violence against women.”
She further emphasized the importance of sustained action, “Raising awareness is only the beginning. Every one of us must take responsibility for ending gender-based violence. By working together, we can create a protective environment for our women and girls, ensuring that they can live freely and safely, without the fear of harm. It is through unity, education, and action that we will succeed.”
Arabinrin Aderonke concluded by urging governments, civil society organizations, and people to work together to create lasting change, support survivors, and ensure a safer, more equitable future for women and girls.
