An eyewitness told News Direct that the fight started after a heated argument about space in a canopy.
“It all started like a joke after the boys started arguing about where to sit. They were just dragging initially until they all started hitting themselves with chairs and woods.
“The next thing, one of them dropped on the ground with a deep cut in the face a little above his nose. He was rushed to the hospital but allegedly pronounced death according to some security operatives that came to restore sanity. Several others sustained numerous degree of injuries.” He said.
The sad incident occurred as Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, alongside four other PDP governors, attended the campaign flag-off for the Benue chapter of the party.

The governors, who are among party stakeholders that have been absent from campaign activities for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party, were in Benue to show support for Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue.
The party is currently in crisis over the call for Iyorchia Ayu to step down as PDP national chairman, on the grounds that the party’s presidential candidate and national chairman cannot be from the same region.
But Ayu has insisted that he will not resign from his position.
Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu were governors who were also present with Ortom at the Benue PDP campaign flag-off.
