Meet The Arrested Abuja Kidnappers Who Are S’Easterners Not Fulanis [Photos]
Chinaza and one of his gang members, Chidibere Nwodibo were arrested by police operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command on Thursday, 18th January, 2024.
According to the spokesman of the Kaduna Police Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, the victim, one Segun Akinyemi, was kidnapped on Wednesday, January 17th at his residence located at FCDA Quarters Garki Abuja.
The police spokesman added that the victim was being taken to Kano State by the kidnappers before they were intercepted by police operatives who engaged them in a gun duel.
Mr Chinaza and his gang members were transiting through Kaduna in a grey Toyota Hilux van with registration number Abuja, RBC 90 DC, with four passengers and were blocked by the police; reports say.
The police revealed that following a gun duel, the victim was rescued, while Chinaza Philip of Life Camp Abuja was arrested alongside his gang members with Igbo names.
The police noted that one Auwal and the gang leader whose identity is yet to be ascertained escaped.
The names of the kidnappers which shows that they are Igbo men from one of the states in the South-East geopolitical zone have triggered mixed reactions.
The police said Chinaza has been handed over to FCT police Command today being Friday 19th January, 2024, and currently in police custody.
Reactions have since trailed the statement.by the police, with many battling to understand the reason why the Igbos are joining the kidnapping business in Abuja which is mainly done by Fulanis according to reports.
