Zamfara Youths Block Major Highway, Destroy Vehicles In Violent Protest
In Zamfara State, enraged youths launched a violent demonstration along the Gusau – Kaura Namoda Highway.
According to a source who spoke to NEWS DIRECT, the demonstrators occupied the route extremely early on Monday in response to bandit attacks in their towns.
According to him, the protest turned violent when adolescents blocked the motorway near Kurya junction, preventing approximately 500 public vehicles from finishing their journey.
He also indicated that movement was hampered in the same location where bandits regularly pass through on their way to infiltrate towns.
The protesters condemned the unending insecurity and attacks which the people of the area have suffered at the hands of the bandits.
They also claimed there are attacks by bandits in the area every day to kill and kidnap residents while some houses are burnt in the process.
