World Cup: FIFA Tells Qatari Authorities To Allow Rainbow Colours As Agreed

The governing authority of football FIFA has requested that rainbow-colored items be permitted at the stadiums, according to sources who spoke to dpa.

Before the competition, FIFA had announced that the colors, which are primarily a symbol for the LGBTQI+ community, would be permitted in the eight stadiums.

However, supporters of other teams have reported that security staff at the stadiums in the early days confiscated such objects, including flags, armbands, sweatbands, and bucket caps.

The Welsh FA had announced on Thursday that the products would be permitted for Friday’s match against Iran and that venue managers had been instructed to follow the regulations established before the competition.

Homosexuality is a criminal offence in Qatar but officials have said that everyone is welcome and they would respect the rules set by FIFA.
