BREAKING: EFCC Operatives Allegedly Arrest FUTA Students In Midnight Raid

Operatives suspected to be from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly conducted a midnight operation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.

Reports indicate that students’ lodges were invaded around 2 am, with some students alleging that the operatives forcefully entered rooms and made arrests.

Videos circulating on social media depict broken window frames, suggesting attempted forced entry into the lodges.

One social media user, J Brandy, expressed concern, stating, “I thought they said EFCC should not raid at nights again. This hostel (Celebrity Lodge, FUTA) is right behind mine. When will this endemic? EFCC (officials) moving like thieves at night!”

In one of the circulating videos, a person wearing an EFCC jacket was observed.

EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had previously ordered the cessation of nighttime sting operations following public outcry after the arrest of suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Efforts to reach the agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, for comment were unsuccessful as he requested a callback in 20 minutes, but subsequent calls remained unanswered at the time of this report.
