Upcoming Artiste, Wisekid Makes Millions Monthly For ‘Cloning’ WizKid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ Album

A young Nigerian musician has been exposed for making millions by plagiarizing Wizkid’s songs.

The musician also made his name sound similar to Wizkid’s.

Wisekid, a Nigerian artiste, is said to have earned N30 million per month since October 2020 by copying Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album on Apple Music and Amazon.

To trick streaming platforms’ algorithms, the musician released an album called Lasgidi Made, but then uploaded Wizkid’s Made In Lagos album with a rearranged tracklist and a different title.

He also cloned Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album and uploaded it to Shazam and Tidal.

The song, which has received 9.3 million views and a profit of over 20 million naira, was brought to the public’s attention when fans posted screenshots of their Apple Music replay.

Since October, Wizkid has earned $73,170 (N30 million) per month, accounting for a significant portion of Wizkid’s revenue streams.

After he tweeted the streams, fans found a certain Wisekid, a relatively unknown rapper, doing numbers similar to Wizkid.

The singer has since deactivated his Twitter account and changed his Instagram username to Ayaboyofficial from “wisekidaya,” which is a rip-off of “wizkidayo.”
