Toro Village Killing Not Resurrection Of Ife-Modakeke Dispute – Ooni

Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, has urged Ile-Ife locals against putting a communal spin on the massacre of farmers in Toro village, Modakeke. noting that the act was criminal in nature.

Mischief makers were attempting to divert security officers from uncovering the nefarious minds behind the crime, he added, by attempting to attach communal coloration to the crime.

The Ooni, who was addressing through Mr Moses Olafare, Director, Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, said he was deeply concerned when he learned of the reported killing of five farmers in Toro village on Friday morning.

He stated that as soon as the information was received, it was promptly relayed to the proper security agencies, who quickly went into action.

The monarch reminded the people that Nigeria, like other countries throughout the world, is facing security difficulties that can be overcome with the help of all citizens.

The deaths should not be linked to the long-resolved Ife-Modakeke conflict, Ooni Ogunwusi remarked categorically, adding that the long arm of the law will soon catch up with the perpetrators of the crime.

The state administration, security services, and vigilante groups were congratulated by the traditional ruler for their part in maintaining the calm and being sensitive to the crisis.

He also urged the law-abiding citizens of both towns to continue with their normal activities, stating that the evil mond who perpetrated the heinous act did not represent any of the community and would be prosecuted as criminals if apprehended.
