BREAKING: Ex-President, Jonathan Meets Buhari In Aso Rock In Close-door Session

At the State House in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Goodluck Jonathan are currently meeting.

On Thursday about 3 p.m., Jonathan arrived at the Presidential Villa.

However, as of press time, the reason of his visit was unknown.

Jonathan may have paid a visit to the White House to advise President Obama on his work as ECOWAS Chief Mediator in Mali, according to reports.

Meanwhile, there were indications that Jonathan was planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) (PDP).

According to SaharaReporters, the APC cabal loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari was eager to get Jonathan into the party for a variety of reasons, including to stymie the presidential ambitions of the party’s national head, Bola Tinubu, who is eyeing the presidency in 2023.

In September 2021, a top source told SaharaReporters that Buhari had begun courting Jonathan in order to pull him into the APC and have him run for president and succeed him.

According to the source, the Presidency cabal wants Jonathan to be the next president because they feel he will not probe Buhari’s regime’s misdeeds.

Jonathan is also rumored to be pursuing a presidential bid to serve two terms in office, something the APC denied him in the 2015 presidential election.

He has apparently consented to play the game, despite his weak chances in the PDP for 2023, thanks to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s wealth and connections.

In the 2019 presidential election, Atiku was the PDP’s presidential candidate.

Despite the fact that Atiku has not to declare his candidacy, he appears to be testing the waters, as several support groups for his 2023 ambition have already surfaced.

Jonathan is particularly cautious of the threat posed by the ambitions of the governors of Sokoto and Rivers states, Aminu Tambuwal and Nyesom Wike, who are rumored to be mulling a combined ticket, according to the source.

Jonathan, on the other hand, is reported to have been granted certain criteria by Buhari’s cabal, which have yet to be fully met, resulting in his delay in joining the ruling party.
