In Ilorin, Kwara State, an escort van belonging to Sarah Alade, special adviser to the President on Finance and the Economy, rammed into three tricycles.

The escort vehicle belongs to Hillcrest, an agro-allied enterprise along the Ajase-Ipo – Offa road owned by Mrs Alade, who is also a former Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, according to Premium Times. The van was in the convoy of Mrs Alade’s son, Ayodele Alade, the company’s chief executive officer, who lives in Ilorin, when the tragedy happened, according to this publication.

Several witnesses told this newspaper that the vehicle collided with three tricycles near the state’s Ministry of Agriculture while speeding.

They further claimed that police officers intervened in time to spare the life of the escort van driver, who was saved from being killed by an enraged crowd of commercial tricycle operators who had gathered at the accident scene.

The tricycles are a total wreck, according to photographs received from Just Events Online, a Kwara-based online medium.

Meanwhile, three persons with severe injuries are being treated at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, according to a statement released by the police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi (UITH).
