BREAKING: Court Acquits Sen Nwaoboshi Of N322m Money Laundering Charge

Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi (Delta North) was cleared and dismissed by a Federal High Court in Lagos State of a N322 million money laundering accusation brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, the judge, ruled on Friday that the EFCC had failed to prove the components of the charges against Nwaoboshi.

On the same grounds, Aneke discharged Nwaoboshi’s two enterprises, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd.

He claimed that the prosecution’s case fell apart because “bank executives were not asked to testify,” among other things.

The defendants were originally charged in 2018 before Justice Mohammed Idris, who was later moved to the Court of Appeal.

On Oct. 5, 2018, they were re-arrested before Justice Aneke.

The anti-graft agency said that the defendants committed the crime between May and June 2014 in Lagos State, according to the two-count accusation marked FHC/L/117C/18.

Guinea House, Marine Road, Apapa Lagos, was claimed to have been purchased by Nwaoboshi.
